About James
Hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, growing up James Laurent never dreamt of a career or life in Los Angeles or entertainment. The now 25 year old RIAA Certified Gold engineering prodigy recounts actually being told not to continue with band or orchestra in elementary & middle school due to a lack of musical abilities. James only began down the path of music when a tragic knee injury when he was 17 years old took away his prospects of playing professional soccer in Sweden. With no back up plans, James took the family laptop and a USB microphone from his school and began learning how to create music. With no mentors and no music studios around his hometown James taught himself how to engineer, a craft which quickly became a passion.
By age 20, James had already found himself to be a sought after engineer around Los Angeles, working for multiple record labels and studios. By 23 James had moved into post-production engineering working for major tv shows and companies such as South Park, Nickelodeon Animation Studios, Cartoon Network, & many more.
James is one of the youngest engineers in the country for designing, building, and configuring Dolby Atmos certified mixing studios such as the two rooms he built and configured at Amazon Music in Culver City. Currently, James is a Media Systems Engineer for FX Networks, making his music overnight in his bedroom studio.
James is a very technically adept artist. Not only does he record, mix, and master all of his music, but he does everything else himself as well. Whether it is the graphics of a cover art, banners & logos, designing merchandise, as well as filming and editing all social media content himself.
A real one man show from first recording to final marketing, if you see it, you're seeing him.
